Vetiver Essential Oil

vetiver plant

Description

Vetiver oil is distilled from the roots of the vetiver grass which has long been used to prevent soil erosion due to it’s impressive root system. Vetiver essential oil has long been used as a fixative in the perfume industry.  It has an aroma that is very earthy, sweet, and woody. (You can learn more about the Vetiver Plant Here)

The plant is harvested for it’s roots which are stream distilled for the oil.  This oil is very viscous (thick like honey) although it does thin out when mixed with other oil and can actually be added to almost any blend.

Safety Tips when using Essential Oils

Essential oil safety is so very important.

Please follow the following tips and guidelines as you learn the proper use and common sense practices of using Essential Oils for you Health and Wellness.

  1. Do not put oils in eyes, ears, or up nose!

  2. If you get oil in your eye, apply 1-2 drops of carrier oil to the eye to ease the burning. Do not use water!!
  3. Citrus oils can cause photo-sensitivity (this means your skin may and will burn when exposed to UV light). Do not apply to exposed skin prior to being in the sun.
  4. Please reference oil/drug interactions in the books. Caution for epilepsy.
  5. Always use glass containers, not plastic, with your oils.
  6. Apply a small amount of oil to your skin to test for a skin reaction before using.
  7. Should you have irritation, redness, itching, or burning, apply a carrier oil (coconut oil, olive oil, or a natural vegetable based oil) to the area to dilute the essential oil and stop the sensation. DO NOT USE WATER!!
  8. Be sure to read labels prior to ingestion. Some oils should not be taken internally.
  9. Typical application is 1 drop or less for most applications.  It is important to remember that therapeutic grade essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts and should be used with reasonable care.
  10. To improve absorption, slow evaporation, allow for the distribution of oils over a greater area, and prevent skin sensitivity it is recommended to use a carrier oil with all oils.
  11. Please consult a physician when using with medications of if you have any health concerns.
  12. For dilution see below chart.

Essential Oils that everyone should have

For years I have believed in the support and balance that therapeutic grade essential oils can offer us it addressing ailments, aches and pains, and emotional support.

I am often amazed at the effects these amazing oils actually have, and even skeptics become true believers in the healthy balance and support these oils provide their “issue” once they actually use them.  I suppose I am equally amazed that so many people in our society trust, on blind faith, that the prescription drugs and over the counter medications are not causing any health problems to our families. And despite the synthetic man-made ingredients, disclaimers and list of potential side effects, these over the counter and prescription options claim treatment of the symptoms in hopes of a cure.

Plant Medicine has been around since the beginning of time, both in the support of, and the prevention of disease.  And essential oils are the natural oils extracted from a plant’s seeds, roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and rinds.  Slow steamed, or cold pressed, these are naturally extracted by co-impact partners, growers, distillers of doTERRA from the regions where the plants grow naturally.

Fast forward over 15 YEARS and here I am, speaking with you on all the amazing wonders of essential oils.

So, let’s get started.

Of course you can always pay retail, but please take a moment and learn more about the benefits of the membership are to make it more affordable for you and to be able to properly support you.   In your search you can even find doTERRA’s labels on Amazon, but I caution you here, if you aren’t buying direct from the company, they cannot honor their amazing guarantee to return the product if you aren’t satisfied.   And unfortunately there has been evidence that doTERRA labeled products on Amazon or through other sources have been tampered with and are not pure.   Such a shame.  But you are here to learn, and now you know.
