Is there any soy in the products? a. All of the new products are soy free.
Are these safe for pregnant and lactating women? a. We recommend any women who are pregnant or lactating inform their physician about their use of our products and to follow their physician’s advice. However, when used appropriately, we know of no contradictions that would prevent someone from using dōTERRA products.
Why are the new products not labeled as organic? a. Pursuing organic certification was something we considered. However, our current quality control processes and analytical testing provide an equivalent benefit as organic certification. Additionally, pursuing organic certification would increase the cost of the product, and we decided to prioritize affordability to keep these products as accessible as possible for all.
Are all the dо̄TERRA Protein flavors gluten free? a. Yes, all of the dо̄TERRA Protein options (Chocolate, Vanilla, and Vegan) are certified gluten free. The oat flour included in these products is sourced from a specific plant in Ireland that has very strict gluten controls in place.

While the Nutrition products were designed with the nutritional needs of adults in mind, these products were made using whole food ingredients that can be found in the daily diet of adults and children. Though all of the Nutritional products should generally be safe for children, we recommend that parents adjust serving sizes for children as they see necessary.

Why did we include Maltodextrin? a. Maltodextrin is used as an excipient (processing aid or carrier or incidental additive) and is a crucial ingredient for the production process. The maltodextrin used to produce dо̄TERRA supplements is sourced from natural sources like corn, wheat, cassava or tapioca root and is used in very small amounts. dо̄TERRA is transparent with our product labeling and this is why you see maltodextrin listed on our supplement labels and may not see it included on supplement labels from other companies.
What are the natural flavors? a. Instead of listing 5-10 different flavor components (I.e., the Vanilla flavor- there is vanilla extract, vanillin, and other natural flavors that contribute to give that desired vanilla flavor) we list it as natural flavor.
Why did we include Oat Flour? a. We included this as an additional source of protein and fiber, as well as a source of beta-glucan. In a crowded protein space, this unique source of protein and fiber helps to differentiate our product, providing a nice taste and mouthfeel along with the benefits of beta-glucan, all while being certified gluten-free (at 10 ppm, which is tighter than the industry requirement of 20 ppm). b. The oat flour we are using is independently verified to be gluten-free by Gluten Watchdog and is certified by the Celiac Societies of Ireland, the UK, and Spain.

Essential oils can be useful for creating a healthy body, supporting the immune system, soothing feelings of discomfort, and more.*
Because of these powerful benefits, essential oils are useful and effective during every phase of life—even during pregnancy. By following proper safety guidelines, you can feel confident in using essential oils during pregnancy and delivery.
When you are pregnant, your body goes through a wide variety of changes. These changes often bring feelings of discomfort and sensitivity throughout the body. While every pregnancy is a little different, the goal is to support the healthy, proper function of the entire body. Along with proper nutrition and regular exercise, essential oils can be used during pregnancy to help support a healthy body and healthy baby.
Is it safe to use essential oils while I’m pregnant?
You might be wondering, “It is safe to use essential oils during pregnancy?” Due to the ethical issue of testing expecting mothers and their fetuses, there are limited clinical studies addressing the safety of essential oils during pregnancy. However, we can rely on the history of safe use to determine which essential oils to use during pregnancy.
It is important to remember that during pregnancy, it is not uncommon for a woman to be sensitive to essential oils. Due to these sensitivities and all of the changes that occur in the body when pregnant, it is important to consult with your doctor before using essential oils during pregnancy.
Talking to your doctor about using essential oils while pregnant
Even if you’ve used essential oils before without incident, you should still inform your doctor of any essential oils you plan to use during your pregnancy. Your doctor knows you, your specific health concerns, and the status of your pregnancy, and therefore, should be aware of any and all essential oil products you plan to use during pregnancy.
Because each pregnancy is different, your doctor is the best resource for making a treatment plan and determining which essential oils are best to use during pregnancy for each individual. Your doctor can give you a good idea of what to avoid during pregnancy, and any other safety measures you should take based on your personal health and the health of your growing baby.
Other safety guidelines for using essential oils when pregnant
As mentioned, it is not uncommon for pregnant women to experience increased sensitivity to essential oils. You might consider adapting the amount of oil you use or application methods when using essential oils during pregnancy to help with any sensitivities that arise.
It is also important to remember that not all essential oils are created equal. It is crucial that you use pure essential oils during pregnancy—you will want oils that are free of toxins and contaminants. All doTERRA essential oils are thoroughly tested to ensure purity and safety, and when used appropriately, provide a safe option during pregnancy.
What essential oils are safe to use during pregnancy?
Once you’ve talked with your doctor about your pregnancy and essential oils, you can start to safely use essential oils during pregnancy. Here are a few ideas for how to use essential oils during pregnancy:
Essential oils for morning sickness and nausea:
Peppermint oil and Cardamom oil can alleviate occasional stomach upset when taken in veggie capsules or added to water.
Ginger oil may help reduce occasional nausea when taken internally.
Spearmint oil offers many of the same benefits as Peppermint oil, but serves as a milder option to help with sensitivity or stomach upset that occurs during pregnancy.
The DigestZen® Digestive Blend is doTERRA’s tummy tamer blend and provides a healthy, natural way to soothe an upset stomach.
Essential oils for heartburn:DigestTab® Chewable Tablets are infused with the DigestZen tummy tamer blend, delivering digestion-supportive oils, and the acid-neutralizing benefits of calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate helps maintain stomach acid balance to help you deal with the discomfort that comes from heartburn and indigestion—without the chalky aftertaste.
Essential oils for pregnancy back discomfort: Massaging soothing essential oil blends like Deep Blue® on the lower back can be helpful when experiencing back discomfort. When discomfort in the legs or feet arise, rubbing the AromaTouch® Massage Blend on the lower extremities can help these problem areas.
Essential oils for better sleep during pregnancy: Good sleep and rest are paramount during pregnancy. Blends like doTERRA Balance®, doTERRA Breathe®, doTERRA Serenity®, are full of calming and soothing essential oils and can be used aromatically create a relaxing environment. Other essential oils like Clary Sage, Dill, Lavender, and Sandalwood promote feelings of calmness and can create an ideal atmosphere for achieving a good night of rest. In addition to diffusion and aromatic use, these oils can also be applied topically or used internally when appropriate.
For restful sleep during pregnancy, try the following suggestions:
Place a few drops of essential oil on your blankets or pillows at nighttime.
Diffuse calming essential oils for 30 minutes before going to bed.
Add one to two drops of Lavender oil to a cup of hot water for a relaxing tea that can help you unwind at bedtime.
Essential oils for better skin during pregnancy: A pregnant woman’s body is ever changing, and this includes changes in the skin. As the body works to keep up with a growing fetus, the skin can often become stretched and taut. Another challenge that many women experience during pregnancy is an increase in oil production of the skin. Thankfully, many essential oils can help to reduce the appearance of oily skin, reduce the appearance of blemishes, and beautify the skin.
Here are a few of the best essential oils for skin during pregnancy:
Essential oils for emotional support during pregnancy: In addition to all of the changes occurring in the body during pregnancy, the changes in a woman’s hormones can cause heightened emotions. To manage mood during pregnancy, consider using any of the essential oils from the doTERRA Emotional Aromatherapy System™. This collection provides a variety of oils to help you deal with the wide range of emotions that you’ll encounter throughout your pregnancy. Use these oils and any of your favorite calming, soothing, or uplifting oils to help manage your mood during the emotionally taxing months of pregnancy.
Essential oils for labor and delivery:
Because essential oils promote uplifting and calming feelings, they can be extremely useful during labor and delivery when stress, anxious feelings, and emotions are running high. Research shows that women who use essential oils during labor and delivery have reported less anxious feelings and felt more positive about their experience, when compared to women who did not use essential oils.
The combination of doTERRA Balance® and Wild Orange oil make a good blend, especially during delivery when you want to balance emotions and dispel anxious feelings.
Try using the AromaTouch® blend topically for comforting and relaxing effects. This blend helps to soothe the mind and the body, and is especially helpful for soothing areas of tension and stress when applied to the back and shoulders.
Clary Sage oil can be used to reduce tension, which is helpful for contractions. Consider blending Clary Sage with other calming essential oils like Lavender oil or Geranium oil.
Is it safe to use essential oils when breastfeeding?
In addition to concerns about essential oils and pregnancy, many people ask, “Is it safe to use essential oils while breastfeeding?” While the body changes significantly during pregnancy, these changes don’t end with the birth of the baby—your body will continue to change as you adapt to post-partum life. Just as you should discuss the use of essential oils with your doctor before using them for pregnancy, you’ll also want to consult with your physician when you begin nursing.
Again, your doctor is the best resource for advice when it comes to your body, your baby, and any special concerns you might have. Just as you would check with your doctor before using any new products when breastfeeding, it is important to discuss your essential oil use with your healthcare professional when you become a nursing mother.
Like pregnancy, breastfeeding places a lot of demands on a mother’s body. When nursing, the goal is to maintain a strong and healthy body that will support a healthy newborn. With the help of your doctor, you can use essential oils and essential oil products that support healthy function of the whole body.

Personally, I discovered essential oils over 15 years ago and although my pregnancy days are years behind me I have had many friends and clients who have thanked me for introducing them to essential oils during their pregnancies to support them with skin, sleep, immune and most important emotional related issues.
Stephanie Fritz also known as The Essential Midwife, has a very successful midwifery practice in Southeast Arizona. doTERRA interviewed her to find out a little more about using essential oils during pregnancy and with children.
Her advice when educating her clients on this topic is simple: “My intention in a class about using essential oils during pregnancy is to eliminate the fears around using essential oils during pregnancy, birth, and with your children or babies.” Remembering the lessons from our Introduction to Oils Workshops you will recall the importance of Purity from doTERRA. This is so important to trusting that these oils are Safe, Effective, and Affordable.
In addition to the use of essential oils for reasons mentioned above I like to focus on the following guideline for supporting Pregnant mommas :
1. Let’s talk about the importance of nutrition. I think we can all agree with Stephanie who says, “Nutrition is the number one thing to watch during pregnancy. I always refer to diet even before bringing up essential oils. For example, I recommend that you have 80-100 grams of protein, dark green leafy veggies, and that you drink at least 3-4 quarts of water every day. Only after you have the proper nutrition do you add in essential oils and supplements from doTERRA®.”
2. Specific essential oils and supplements that are safe to use for each stage of pregnancy and with babies. It is very important to consult with your health care professional about any supplements you are taking. Stephanie recommends:
doTERRA Microplex MVp™. “It’s a great supplement to add to your doTERRA wellness lifestyle even before pregnancy. With my clients, I talk about it being a wholefood supplement and that our bodies assimilate that much better than synthetic vitamins. You can use this supplement no matter what stage of life you are in.”
Note: Sometimes even the healthiest of diets fail to offer optimum nutrition, which is why a prenatal is often recommended. Although not specifically designed to be a prenatal, many women, working closely with their qualified healthcare provider, choose to take Microplex to help fill nutritional gaps. Also, many women choose to take xEO Mega®, which provides important brain-development nutrients, including omega-3 fatty acids (particularly DHA). Ultimately, choosing the right supplements is a personal choice and establishing open communication between patient and qualified healthcare provider is especially important during pregnancy.
Peppermint, Ginger, and Cardamom. Any of these oils can be used mostly during the first trimester to help aid digestion*. Of these, Cardamom is my favorite.
Fractionated Coconut Oil with Immortelle. Dilute Immortelle with the coconut oil and spread it over your stomach during the second trimester. This is great for your skin and improves the appearance of fine lines.
Citrus oils: Lemon, Lime, and Grapefruit. These oils should be especially used in third trimester to help cleanse and support your digestive system*.
Wild Orange and doTERRA Balance®
You can diffuse both oils during labor and delivery. These are my two favorite oils to diffuse because they establish a calm atmosphere.

Moods are often perceived as having chosen us, as if they are happening to us. Rather, the chemical impact of our emotions is the real chooser of moods. That’s why we reach for certain foods, sugar, caffeine, or a drug of choice, interact with certain people, do certain things, and act out certain behaviors because of how it makes us feel and to get a “chemical” hit.
What if we could use this knowledge or be emowered to alter the chemical response to choose the mood we want to feel and then actually feel it- without harmful substances or recreational drugs?! How Empowering would that be? What if we cold think of a desired mood and then choose the use a healthful that is capable of creating that mood through it’s chemical properties and impact to our brain?

Where Does Palmarosa Essential Oil Come From?
doTERRA sources pure Palmarosa oil from Nepal. Native to Southeast Asia, the grass grows well thanks to the humid, wetland environment. It is harvested by steam distilling the leaves and stems of the grass, which produces a clear or pale-yellow oil.
What Is Palmarosa Essential Oil Good For?
Palmarosa is high in geraniol, which is known for its powerful skin benefits. This makes it an ideal oil to incorporate as part of your skincare routine. When added to your favorite doTERRA skincare product line, Palmarosa essential oil can promote and support healthy- and youthful-looking skin.
Palmarosa oil is used to treat skin problems like eczema psoriasis, as well as boils, abscesses and acne, as well. Animals may also benefit from this gentle plant oil. Specifically, dog skin disorders and horse skin fungus and dermatitis are just some animal skin conditions palmarosa oil can help.
The main chemical consituents found in palmarosa essential oil are myrcene, linalool, geraniol, geranyl acetate, dipentene, and limonene. Geraniol, the most predominant of these compounds, makes up 70 to 80 percent of the oil.. it is a monoterpenoid, which functions to correct miswritten information in cellular memory. This compound helps stimulate cell growth which, in turn, repairs damaged DNA. Palmarosa oil also owes its rosy fragrance to this chemical compound.
Palmarosa oil is well-known for its hydrating properties, and can assist in preventing inflammation ad quelling dehydration. It also balances the sebum or oil production of your skin, aids in the healing of cuts and vruises, and helps remedy acne breakouts.
Palmarrosa oils health benefits are also often attributed to its antiseptic and antimicrobial propertis in on study that tested the antibacterial activity for four types of essential oil…palmarosa, evening primrose, lavender, and tuberrose… researchers found that palmarosa essential oil was the most effective again gram positive Eschericia coli and gram-negative Staphylococcus aureus speacies of bactiera.
Other research showed the essential oils efficacy against the strain of yeast called Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It was suggested that this effect was due to palmarosa’s geranial conten. It was also found that exposure to the oil led to changes in the pomposition of the yeast cell membrane, with increased saturate fat and reduced unsaturated fat.
Palmarosa oil can also serve as an antiviral agent, especially when blended with other virus-fighting oils like star anise oil or ravensara oil.. The oil can also protect wounds from infection with its function as an antiseptic. When taken internally, palmarosa oil can suppress bacterial growth in your urinary tract .
PALMAROSA PRODUCT USES AND BENEFITS
Diffusing Palmarosa into the air will fill any room with a pleasant and welcoming aroma. Beautify your favorite space starting with each breath you take. You’ll love this luxurious floral fragrance, reminiscent of favorites like Geranium and Rose but with uniquely sweet notes.
