Learn about Options for Thyroid support

Our ancestors have used plants, seeds, wood, and resins from nature for thousands of years to heal the body, while also positively affecting our spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being.

Although many of us consider it a lost art, we don’t have to forage in the forest anymore (although an herb garden is a wonderful addition to any kitchen). We are blessed with the convenience of packaged herbs and supplements, and little glass bottles brimming with Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils.  Using CPTG essential oils on a daily basis has the power to provide tremendous healing benefits and support.

These high-quality essential oils are properly distilled from plants that have been studied and properly harvested at the perfect moment by experienced growers, and trained harvesters from around the world from the soils they naturally were intended to grow.

There are hundreds of powerful plants and oils that can restore balance to conditions ranging from sleep disorders, stress management, gland imbalances, chronic congestion, inflammation, digestive issue, germ infections, fatigue, weight gain, neurological imbalances, and much more.

Story and Testimony:

I would like to share a story about a friend and member of our community… After years of struggling against her body and a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s hypothyroid condition, she began experimenting with essential oils.

Like so many others she was intrigued by the incredible potential of essential oils for therapeutic use and wanted to learn the right way, not just from postings on Pinterest.

Some of the worst symptoms she experienced from her condition included sluggishness, constant bloating and over-all puffiness, digestive pain, and mental fogginess.  She was on a significant dose of thyroid medication, taking daily up to 175 mcg of Synthroid. Fortunately she had already decided to eliminate processed foods, gluten, refined sugars, and any ingredients made in a laboratory.  But even with this healthy lifestyle change to her diet and high dose of thyroid hormone, she still felt awful even though her tests “looked fine.”

Still under her doctors care she was determined to wean off the high dose that didn’t seem to be helping her feel better, so she decided to give essential oils a try.

We were both thrilled and she was astounded by how effectively they brought her back into balance and cleared up the symptoms she had been struggling with for so long.

Every morning, she began applying essential oils to her thyroid (at the front base of the neck) and over her adrenal glands (lower back above her kidneys) as well as the reflexology points on her feet for thyroid and adrenals.

In the evenings, she began applying the oils to the bottoms of her feet, massaging her feet with essential oils and coconut oil on the thyroid and parathyroid points.  She has noticed an astounding change in how she is feeling!

When choosing your essential oils, be sure to research the source.  I would only recommend Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR:

Would you ever take your family to a doctor at the local store or find the cheapest one through a Google search?  Of course not!  So why would you trust the cheapest oils for your family if your intention was therapeutic use?   – Best option and safest option is to buy direct from the company with your own wholesale account. No brokers and no middlemen, but all of the support and commitment to education you would never receive from pharmaceutical companies.

dōTERRA‘s quality guarantee and efficacy is surpassed by no other. You will learn safety protocols for topical, internal, and aromatic use, and as dōTERRA continues to change lives and healthcare as we know it.

After you have done your homework, or perhaps you have already decided, joining us will make you a valuable member of our community learning first hand on how to support your health and the health of your family with these quality products.

You should know exactly what you are putting on your body and where it was harvested, and dōTERRA offers transparent reporting on the chemical properties and testing of each bottle! downloadVisit www.sourcetoyou.com and learn about the health practitioners, medical advisory board, growers, harvesters, distillers. Essential oils are 50 to 75 percent more powerful than the herbs or the plant itself, so a little goes a long way. Cost per drop is a great value.

Here are my recommended oils for use for under-active Thyroid, including Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism conditions:

These essential oils specifically stimulate glands responsible for the secretion of hormones, activate the metabolism, and boost the immune system as they stimulate the circulation of blood.

My go-to oils to help with over-active thyroid, including Hyperthyroidism and Graves’ are:

These essential oils induce relaxation, calmness, concentration, inner vision, and their properties are sedative calming feeling of anxiousness, fear, stress, and restlessness.

I love Frankincense because it is one of the most potent natural sedatives—many of my massage clients have been very successful with applying it to their throat chakra and temples whenever they feel anxious, anger, or stress—the common mental symptoms experienced with hyperthyroid and Graves’ conditions.

For those with hyperthyroid conditions who feel flighty and easily irritated, Spruce oil is amazing!!  It has an immediate grounding effect and is a powerful remedy for centering, calming and focusing.  Spruce oil is in our favorite Grounding Blend dōTERRA Balance®.  Spruce was used by Native Americans for health and spiritual reasons and is still used today to bring harmony to the mind and body.

Lemongrass is one of my favorite scents because it is so invigorating and refreshing.  It’s also great for the nerves and nervous system, and I’ve heard that it’s amazing remedy for those who often experience nervousness.  Because of this sedative property, it’s also great for soothing and calming the mind, relieving tension, and releasing anxious feelings.  Many of my massage clients with hyperthyroidism complain of restlessness and trouble sleeping,  Lemongrass, dōTERRA Serenity® blend and Lavender are some of the best essential oils to help promote a peaceful nights rest.

A general rule for using essential oils for your thyroid is that for an under-active thyroid, use oils with stimulating properties.  For an over-active thyroid, use oils with a sedating and calming properties.

What I have experienced works best for my clients is purchasing CPTG – Certified Pure Therapeutic-Grade essential oils and placing a few drops in a glass roller-ball bottle with a base oil of Rosehip oil or fractionated coconut oil (Rosehip oil is lovely but doesn’t have as long of a shelf life as FCO, so if you make it as you use it the Rosehip oil is wonderful, just keep all of your oils stored in a cool dark place).

Our customers enjoy our Healthy, Happy, and Strong (HHS) Workshops which offer a number of targeted health supporting topics including Thyroid Support, Women’s Health, Weight Management, DIY Projects and more.  These are informative yet fun workshops where we teach you more about the oils and how they support our health.

Want to make you own roller-ball to support your thyroid?  You will need Geranium, Lemongrass, Peppermint, and Frankincense a 10ml glass roller-ball bottle and either Rosehip, jojoba or fractionated coconut oil.  Add to the empty bottle equal amounts of each of the essential oils 3 to 5 drops each and then 1 tbs of carrier oil (use you nose and see what strength feels good for you).

Here is why I suggest this combination of essential oils especially for thyroid support:

  • Geranium is known to support adrenals and lifts spirits
  • Lemongrass calms your nervous system and supports thyroid health
  • Peppermint cools and reduces swelling  (common in inflammation)
  • Frankincense balances hormones and also addresses associated swelling

Once you have put these into a roller-ball bottle, apply topically to the base of your neck tracing the infinity sign (horizontal figure 8) every morning as part of your self-care practice and throughout the day, especially when you feel like you need an extra boost and confidence.

So you don’t contaminate the roller-ball applicator, with your roller-ball apply to clean finger pads and massage a few drop of essential oils into your foot’s big toe and reflexology point for the thyroid located at the base of the foot in the fleshy area below the big toe.

Did you know? You absorb oils quickly into your bloodstream through the bottom of your feet. If applied all over the bottom of the foot, the oil can be detected in every cell of the body within 20 minutes.

HERE ARE A FEW MORE TIPS:

    • To relieve muscle or joint pain, try a soothing bath using Geranium, Frankincense, Peppermint, and Lemongrass oils.
    • To fight fatigue, try a combination of Peppermint and citrus oils, such as dōTERRA Citrus Bliss® blend, Lemon, Lime, and Grapefruit, Tangerine, Wild Orange, Green or Red Mandarin, etc.
  • To improve your mood and reduce anxious feelings or irritability, use the grounding blend Balance®, Roman Chamomile, Frankincense, and Lavender oil, either diffused in your home or added to a bath.

Kari, Utah

“This blend is amazing for my autistic daughter. Rubbed this into her spine every morning and night and now, her language has exploded and she is reading in class! Her teachers said the change has been remarkable. So much so I am now sharing this oil with the other career mums.”

– Fiona, Australia

“One of my team members put DDR Prime oil on the back of her elderly father in law’s neck. He was very “confused”, not speaking to anyone and didn’t want to leave his room. After six weeks, he was talking, joking around and asking to go on car rides!”

Mary Jane, California

Jaime, Maryland

“I have no words to describe how amazing this oil is. EVERYONE should be rolling this on the bottoms of their feet daily and taking the soft gels. Can’t even begin to explain what it did for me.”

Lisa, Illinois

“I have been using it on my now 3 year old daughter that has severe hypotonia due to a rare gene mutations called STXBP1. She has gone from rolling was her only movement to being able to sit up in her own crawl stand and now walking with assistance. Her mental focus is totally amazing she looks different as she is now engaged and has ways to communicate. The price of the bottle is nothing for the results I have seen and I bought my first bottle one year ago next month and I’m still using it. I put it in coconut oil with a few other oils and rub it on her twice a day. It’s been a miracle!”

Cardamom Oil Product Description
Known as the “queen of spices” in the cooking world, cardamom is a popular spice used around the globe in a variety of dishes. While cardamom is a flavorful, distinctive spice, the essential oil that comes from cardamom seeds has uses that reach far beyond the kitchen. With calming and soothing properties, Cardamom essential oil can ease digestion,* promote feelings of clear breathing,* alleviate stomach discomfort,* and more.

Where to Buy Cardamom Oil
If you are ready to buy your own Cardamom essential oil, visit our page and look up Cardamom under the single oils under the Shop Tab to learn more about ordering.

Whether you plan to use Cardamom oil for cooking, topical application, or aromatically, you’ll want to ensure that you are using pure and potent oil. Through Co-Impact Sourcing®, doTERRA ensures the quality and efficiency of the harvesting and distillation process that the cardamom seeds undergo.

Close relationships with growers and distillers in Guatemala allow doTERRA to produce a high quality, potent oil through a proprietary distillation process.

Cardamom Oil Uses and Benefits

  1. The chemical makeup of Cardamom essential oil makes it a calming oil—allowing it to provide soothing effects for the digestive system when ingested. Cardamom oil can be used to slow down muscle contractions in the intestines and to ease bowel looseness,* which is why it is commonly taken to aid in digestion.* Consider taking Cardamom oil internally when experiencing occasional feelings of stomach discomfort, or after over-indulging at dinner.* When taken internally, it is best to dilute one drop of Cardamom oil in 4 oz. of liquid.
  2. Just as Cardamom oil can be used to calm the digestive system, its aroma can also be calming and soothing. When using Cardamom essential oil to promote a sense of openness or feelings of mental clarity, consider diffusing the oil in the essential oil diffuser of your choice. Diffusing Cardamom oil helps promote a sense of a clear head, offering an overall soothing and calming feeling.
  3. The calming and soothing properties of Cardamom essential oil can also be experienced when used topically. When you want to soothe or cool your skin, apply Cardamom oil on the skin for a cooling, refreshing sensation. Remember, when applying Cardamom essential oil to the skin, apply one or two drops to the area and dilute the oil with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil to help avoid skin irritation or sensitivity.
  4. Freshly ground Cardamom seeds are used widely in the culinary world; you can use Cardamom oil in place of cardamom seeds to enhance the flavor of many recipes. The minty flavor and scent of Cardamom has made it a popular ingredient in traditional Indian sweets and teas. It is also used in curry dishes due to its warm, spicy aroma and flavor. As a companion to coffees, teas, sauces, and pastries, Cardamom is truly “queen of the spices.” Next time you are cooking, consider adding Cardamom oil to breads, smoothies, meats, and salads to enrich food flavor and to aid digestion.*
  5. Another internal benefit of Cardamom essential oil is its ability to promote clear airways and breathing and aid in respiratory health.* It is a key ingredient in the doTERRA Breathe® Respiratory Blend and Respiratory Drops.
  6. Cardamom essential oil has a unique, pungent aroma that makes it useful around the home when you want an inviting, warm scent to fill the room. Cardamom oil’s spicy, warm, balsamic aroma is the perfect addition to any cozy home—particularly in the fall and winter. If you want to spread the unique fragrance of Cardamom essential oil around your own home, try making your own potpourri with Cardamom oil. You can place it anywhere you want a spicy and warm aroma.

A member of the ginger family, cardamom is widely known for its applications in the culinary world. This perennial is native to Southeast Asia and produces flavorful and aromatic seeds that have many uses—including being harvested for essential oil. Though the plant is popular in several areas throughout the world, it is one of Guatemala’s top export products, and the labor-intensive harvesting process makes it one of the most expensive spices worldwide.

Main Chemical Components: Terpinyl acetate, 1,8-cineole, linalyl acetate, sabinene, linalool

Cardamom is made up of monoterpenoid esters called terpinyl acetate and linalyl acetate. Other oils like Lavender, Clary Sage, and Roman Chamomile also contain monoterpenoid esters, which is why these oils are commonly known for their calming and soothing properties. Due to the high quality production process, doTERRA Cardamom essential oil contains higher amounts of 1,8-cineole than other cardamom essential oils. 1,8-cineole, or eucalyptol, is a monoterpenoid that is commonly known for its positive effects. This chemical component contributes to Cardamom oil’s ability to promote feelings of clear airways and easy breathing.*

Oils that blend well with Cardamom oil

As a versatile, soothing oil, Cardamom blends well with warm, spicy oils, as well as florals and citrus oils. Whether you are creating your own essential oil diffuser blend, or looking for the best companion for Cardamom, consider using CinnamonCloveGingerCedarwoodSandalwoodVetiverFennelPatchouliYlang Ylang, or citrus essential oils.

Sourcing
doTERRA Cardamom essential oil is produced from cardamom seeds grown in Guatemala, where doTERRA has established a Co-Impact Sourcing initiative to help local growers improve their quality of life. By providing a new drying facility for the cardamom plants in Sika’abe, Guatemala, doTERRA has helped improve the efficiency of the cardamom harvesting and production process. Before, cardamom growers had to travel far distances to dry the product, which was problematic due to the short shelf life of cardamom seeds. Aside from aiding with equipment and production processes, doTERRA has provided help for cardamom growers in Guatemala by offering education regarding growing, harvesting, and other agricultural activities. This education process has come as a result of efforts of the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation™.

In the Polochic region of Guatemala, the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation partnered with CHOICE Humanitarian to fund the construction of the Sika’abe Training Center—a center that serves as a learning center for community members. At the Sika’abe center, individuals receive certifications and attend classes that teach job skills, new agricultural practices, and more. The objective of this training center is to help families in this area of Guatemala lift themselves out of poverty.

Spearmint, Tangerine and Lime Essential oils

Spearmint is probably one of my favorite mint oils.

Mind you, it used to Peppermint, and I do still love the effects and smell of that amazing oil.

But if and when you’ve had a chance to try a spearmint brownie, or smell a homemade bar of rosemary and spearmint soap, then you too may fall in love with this milder mint.

Lime and Tangerine (as well as Lemon oils) are never far out of reach at our house.

For these warmer months there is nothing more refreshing in a summer cocktail that a twist of lime or lemon or citrus!

With these oils on hand you won’t ever have to worry about the beverage bar not being stocked with fresh citrus.

And I never make guacamole anymore without my lime and cilantro oils handy.

You may know that our favored supplier runs these amazing special three times a year. BOGO deals are becoming as popular as Amazon Prime Day specials in our Industry!
